Robotics Going Mainstream
The existence of robotics is nothing new. They’ve been around since early Greek mythology, when reading and writing became standardized in advanced civilizations. Industrial Robotics has played a key role in manufacturing for well over 75 years, with programmable features in the last 50 years. But recently, new devices have been introduced that assist humans with daily life, such as floor cleaning robots, refrigerators that tell you what you need and wrist watches that monitor and motivate you as you maneuver through your day. All these simple tools in aggregate are leading up to what could be a radical change in our society in the next decade.
It’s easy to take these machines for granted, as we do many of today’s technological advancements. However they are changing our lives and have already had a radical impact on social interaction. In 2017, Saudi Arabia even gave citizenship to a humanoid robot with the appearance, social skills and physical capabilities of a human being. All of this is careening towards an unknown future and raising a lot of questions about the role modern technology will play. One thing we can be sure of is that we write the future through software development. Robotics in particular is creating a need for enhanced language since every impulse and every task needs to be programmed. Update: The global robotics technology market size was accounted at USD 72.17 billion in 2022 and it is expected to reach around USD 283.19 billion by 2032. Numbers could be boggling within a few short years.
